Samajwadi Party not to field any candidate from Amethi and Rae Bareli
A day after the Congress finalised the the names of party candidates for 24 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh on Thursday announced that his party won’t field any candidate from Amethi and Rae Bareli.Though Mulayam didn’t assigned any reason for the decision.
Both the parliamentary constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareli show hardly any influence of SP. Of the five assembly seats under Amethi parliamentary constituency, SP bagged only one (Tiloi) in 2007 elections while Congress had three. In Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency, SP couldn’t win any of the five assembly seats while Congress bagged three of them.
