India Elections : Yadav Mahasangh wants Lalu Prasad Yadav to contest from Patliputra Lok Sabha seat
RJD supreme and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad would contest the Lok Sabha election from Chhapra constituency, a Yadav outfit has urged him to contest from Patliputra constituency.
The Bihar Pradesh Yadav Mahasangh, at an emergency meeting held in Patna on Sunday, urged Mr Prasad to contest from Patliputra constituency as it would not only boost the morale of party workers but also upset political calculations of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had recently roped in senior LJP leader and former MP Ranjan Prasad Yadav into his party’s fold.
After delimitation, Patliputra constituency had been carved out from the erstwhile Patna Lok Sabha seat, which was held by the RJD. The Patna seat had always been considered a prestigious seat and remained in national focus.
The Patna Saheb Lok Sabha seat is another seat which was also part of the erstwhile Patna Lok Sabha Seat. Former Union Health Minister C P Thakur had earlier represented the Patna Lok Sabha seat which was wrested by RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav who is presently sitting MP from the seat.
