Congress would take up the Telangana on a priority basis : Sonia Gandhi
AICC president president Sonia Gandhi said her party was not opposed to a separate state for the Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a public meeting at the Karimnagar constituency, which is currently represented by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, Gandhi said the Congress party would take up the Telangana issue on a priority basis.
She took to task TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for showing concern for Telangana while ignoring the issue when he was calling the shots at the Centre. “What have they done for development of Telangana?” she asked. Recalling the glory of Karimnagar and supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters, she said that she was proud to be visiting the district, where former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao was born.
