Parkash Singh Badal MLA (born December 8, 1927) in Abul Khurana, Malwa. He is the child of a Raghuraj Singh and Sundri Kaur of the Jatt sikh tribe. He is an Indian politician, with major interest in the State of Punjab. He is the current Chief Minister of Punjab and former president of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The current political party which is in power in Punjab. He is currently serving his fourth term as the Chief Minister of Punjab, with effect from 1 March 2007. He entered politics in 1947 and was first elected to Vidhan Sabha in 1957. He was re-elected to Vidhan Sabha in 1969. From 11969-70 he acted as a Minister for Community Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries. He has served Chief Minister of Punjab for three terms previously i.e. 1970-71, 1977–80 and 1997-2002. Also, he has been a Member of Parliament and became Union Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation in the Central Government headed by Morarji Desai.
