The official election campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party is to open on Friday, the first day of the Navratris (nine nights) ahead of Ram Navmi, celebrated as Lord Rams birth anniversary.
It was announced on Thursday that the campaign will open with BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Narendra Modi addressing a rally in Gandhinagar and party president Rajnath Singh blowing the electoral battle bugle in Jammu.
General secretary Arun Jaitley will head for Gaya in Bihar and Sushma Swaraj, contesting from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, will be addressing a public meeting in its capital Bhopal.
In the South, the senior leader Venkaiah Naidu has been asked to open the campaign from Bangalore.
