Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday filed his nomination papers seeking re-election from the prestigious Sivaganga Lok Sabha seat.
Chidambaram, accompanied by his son Karthik Chidambaram, submitted his papers to District Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal.
He was also accompanied by State Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister K R Periyakaruppan, Tiruvadanai MLA K R Ramasamy and Pudukottai DMK secretary Periyannan Arasu.
Congress is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu as part of the DMK-led front.
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram owns assets worth over Rs 10 crore and his wife has properties and deposits of about Rs 11.40 crore, the Congress politician declared in his election affidavit.
