Congress sets up high-level committees ahead of state polls

Congress President has set up a high-powered member committee headed by AICC General secretary Digvijay Singh to asses the ground reality in Maharashtra and providefeedback to the central leadership by the middle of next month.The other high profile members of the committee will be Defence Minister and AICC General Secretary in charge of the stateAK Antony, Deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan and Madhusudan Mistry.

With Assembly elections in four states, including Maharashtra and Haryana, round the corner, Congress’ apex committee AICC will meet next month to formulate strategies for the first major electoral test for the party after its success in Lok Sabha polls.

The one-day “thanksgiving” meeting of the AICC, the first after the Lok Sabha elections, is expected to put on record the contributions of party President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in the victory.
