Karnataka minister V Somanna resigns after defeat in assembly bypoll

Karnataka minister V Somanna resigned from the Yeddyurappa ministry after having failed to get himself elected to the state
assembly in a bypoll.

Somanna, who lost the August 18 assembly by-election in Govindarajanagar constituency, handed over his resignation letter to chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.

The seat was earlier held by him as a Congress candidate but he had to vacate it after defecting to BJP.

The chief minister said he would decide later as to what position could be given to Somanna.
