Maharashtra Elections : Shinde will be Cong campaign panel chief

The AICC has removed senior Congress leader Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil as chief of the state election campaign committee for the assembly elections for allegedly sabotaging the election of senior RPI leader Ramdas Athavale in the Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency.
Union minister for energy, Sushilkumar Shinde, will be the new campaign chief for the polls scheduled for October 13.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi appointed Union Minister Sushilkumar Shinde as chairman of the Campaign Committee for the ensuing Assembly elections in Maharashtra. Besides being a Dalit leader, the former chief minister could also help in better coordination between the Congress and the NCP given his good rapport with Sharad Pawar.
