The Congress declared the first list of 26 candidates for the coming Assembly elections in Jharkhand beginning November 25.
According to Congress sources, the party tried to retain the sitting MLAs to avoid any split in the party before the polls. With this chances of the party entering into a pre-poll alliance with Babulal Marandi-led also ended.
Veteran Congress leader Thomas Hansda,will be the party candidate from Raj Mahal constituency. The party also announced the name of Roshan Kumar Surin, son of deceased Congress leader Sushila Kerketa, to contest from Khuti. Former deputy CM Stephen Marandi, who recently joined the party, will contest from Dumka, while Speaker Alamgir Alam will be the Congress candidate from Pakur.
Congress candidates for the other constituencies are Gopal Nath Sahdeo from Hatia, Pradeep Tulsiyan from Ranchi, Sawna Lakra from Khijri, Ram Dayal Munda from Tamar, Ritika Mukhi from Jugsalai, Gopi Lal from Baghmara, Suresh Singh from Jharia, Israil Ansari from Bokaro, Rajendra Prasad Singh from Bermo, Madhav Lal Singh from Gomia, Vakil Prasad from Dumri, Sarfaraz Ahamd from Gandey, Saurav Narayan Singh from Hazaribagh, Kumar Mahesh Singh from Mandu and Manoj Kumar Yadav from Barhi.
Among the others who have been given tickets to contest are Salauddin Ansari from Madhupur, Sushil Marandi from Jama, Sahjad Anwar from Ramgarh, Uday Shankar Singh from Sarath, Manishankar from Jarmundi, Furkan Ansari from Jamtara and Anil Murmu from Littipara.
