Former Puducherry CM N Rangasamy quits Congress

The Congress in Punducherry suffered a blow on Thursday as its former chief minister N Rangasamy resigned as MLA, despite efforts to keep him in the party ahead of the Assembly polls in May.

Rangasamy was forced to step down as chief minister in 2008 due to intra-party wrangling. He was keeping away from party activities since.

There has been talk of Rangasamy launching a new outfit, and it gathered strength after a recent meeting where his supporters decided to merge outfits launched in his name.
