Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh promised that if the party is voted to power in the next year Assembly polls, student elections will be conducted in all the universities and colleges of the state.Singh said that students has right to participate in the democratic process, and he supports their demand for holding elections in their educational institutions. Interacting with the students during Ru-baru (face to face) programme organised by the National Students Union of India at the Punjabi University campus here, Sight said that student elections should have held long back. The Congress leader fielded questions from students for about two hours covering a wide range of issues like the state of the economy, SGPC elections, employment generation and clemency to Devinderpal Bhullar.
