As the 14th Lok Sabha came to an end, major political parties have intensified their poll campaign with full force. The Election Commission is yet to announce the dates for the forthcoming general elections.
The Congress seems to have an edge over the BJP, when it comes to forming new alliances. The Congress, which already has the maximum number of allies as compared to the BJP, roped in Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. The party is also set to finalise a deal with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP is a little behind when it comes to forming pre-poll alliance. The party has already lost many alliance partners it had in the last Lok Sabha elections in 2004. In addition, it is yet to complete the seat sharing arrangements with its partners BJD in Orissa and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
