SP'>BSP supremo and UP chief minister Mayawati met Governor BL Joshi and submitted her resignation following the decimation of her party in the Assembly elections. Mayawati’s key aide and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh decided to take premature retirement from March 9. His two-year extension was slated to end on March 31. Since Singh was not an Indian Administrative Service officer, he wasn’t supposed to be given any other position.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party legislative board will meet on Wednesday to elect their leader. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to nominate his son Akhilesh Yadav as the next Chief Minister of the state following his party’s impressive victory in the Assembly elections the results of which were announced on Tuesday.
